Does palm kernel gives a different hardness to soap than palm oil? Can both be used interchangeably?

No, they can't be used interchangeably, they have very different properties.

Palm oil is uses for harness and mildness, it interchanges with lard or tallow.

Palm kernel is used to add bubbles and increased cleansing. It can be interchanged with coconut oil.
