I just found a bottle of Optiphen Plus that's about a year old! Back when I first started making lotions, I ordered a small bottle of Optiphen, but it got misplaced (ie: placed somewhere by my husband.) I just found it this week on top of the fridge! I know it's the old one because I order from a different supplier now. It smells the same, and looks the same. Is it still good to use? Does a preservative preserve itself? :?:

Shelf life of Optiphen Plus is 1-2 years...best thing to do would be to test it with a small batch first to see if there are any issues. Preservatives don't "go bad", but they can lose their effectivity at the end of shelf life and may not protect your products as well or at all.
