I've never had an oatmeal, milk and honey batch come out like this. Usually they are a uniform orange/tan colour with just specks from the oats. Are the dark spots here because the honey hasn't dissolved properly? It also has a bit of a funky smell. The honey I used was crystallized this time round, perhaps that affected it?

It could be a couple things. Either the honey didn’t get dispersed enough or it got really hot during gel and kind of toasted the oatmeal. Either way as long as there’s no zap it should be fine.

Huh that makes sense, it did get pretty hot, first time using a wooden mould, and the funky smell smells a bit like toasted oatmeal.

Thanks!

I've had that happen a time or two and the smell goes away after a day or two.

You are giving me hope! Lol it really is a bit of a weird smell and pretty strong. Not hugely offensive but just weird. Like "I'm-not-sure-I-want-to-rub-that-on-my-body" weird. Here's hoping it fades, I will keep you posted!
