oil percentages

when calculating the percentage of oils to use per pound, do you base your % on the total # of pounds of soap, or just the oil in the batch? hopefully I worded that question to make sense, if not I'll try clarifying better.

You mean the percentage of each oil towards the total? If that's the case, you calculate the percentage of the total fats in the recipe. The lye, water, etc go on top of that.

I calculate ppo (per lbs of oils) instead of the weight of the entire batch.
