I have a soap mold that makes 4 lbs of soap(64oz).
My question is...

When I add all my oils together to add up to 64oz and my recipe asks for 18oz of water, should I subtract this 18oz of water from my oils. In other words, should I only use 46 oz of oil(64oz oil minus the 18oz water)

The reason I am asking is because my soap overflowed when I poured it into my mold.

Use this link to confirm how much oil you need for your size of soap mold:

Once you figure that out, run your recipe through SoapCalc using that amount of oil. It will figure out how much lye and water you need.

Exactly it's so simple to figure out.

length multiplied by width multiplied by depth you wish to fill the mold multiplied by .4 = ounces of oils you need to use to figure out your recipe.

So for example if my mold was 12" long, by 3.5" wide but was 4" high but I only wanted it only to be filled 2.5" high i would figure it out like this...

12 x 3.5 x 2.5 x .4 = 42 ounces of oil to plug into soapcalc to figure out the recipe.

Many thanks to Paul for that bit of information !!!
