Hello everyone. I am a newbie to this fourm and to soap making
I have not made my first batch yet but I am in the process of buying
Everything I need.
I do have a few questions. Where do you buy your colors? I have been looking
On line but I am not sure where to buy from. What kind do you use for CP. also same question for fragrance oils.

Welcome to the forum :)

Do you know what kind of colorants you are looking for? There's oxides, ultramarines, dyes, natural colorants (like clays or herbs). There's micas as well, but a lot of them tend not to work in high ph environments like CP soap.

As far as fragrance oils, holy cow there are a lot of suppliers, like 100's-1,000's. A lot of the best ones can be found at http://www.fragranceoilfinder.com/

Some of my favorite fragrance suppliers are:
NGC (http://www.naturesgardencandles.com)
BB (http://brambleberry.com)
AH/RE (http://rusticescentuals.com/)
BCN (http://www.candlesupply.com/)
FNWL (http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/)
MMS (http://www.thesage.com)
Peak (http://www.peakcandle.com/)
I know I'm missing some though, but these were just the ones that I could think of off the top of my head.

You can also find CP supplies at http://supplierbystate.com

Hello and welcome!

I like micas in soap but as Genny already mentioned some aren't soap stable. You want to make sure if you buy micas, you only get ones that state in the description the color won't morph in a high alkaline or high pH environment. Soap stable sometimes only means the color won't fade over time. A mica can be soap stable but the color can change from being exposed to lye. Ask me how I learned this little factoid. :problem:
