Hi all, I'm in the process of stocking up on the following.

Oilve Oil
Shea Butter
Cocoa Butter
Palm Oil
Coconut Oil
Lavender E/O
Lemon E/O
Sweet Almond Oil

I am yet to try my first batch but wanted to make something that was had good lather was moisturising and with a nice scent (hence some of my ingredients but I suppose that's everyones aim !!)

Any suggestions on a breakup of some or all of the above ingredients? I really like the Almond type fragrances for my first batch. I'm finding it hard to find the recipe I like based on the hundreds and hundreds out there.

Been looking around the forum and I stumbled on this thread.

Instead of the pearberry F/O If I like the Almond type fragrance, will the Sweet Almond Oil work as a substiture or do I have to stick with F/O?

If you want a fragranced soap you are going to need the FO or EO.
Sweet Almond oil does not give you an almond scent.

Good Luck on your first batch. Experience is your best teacher.

try one of the tried and true recipes out there.... there are some out there, but there is also www.millersoap.com or a number of books. for your first batch, just pick something that isn't too complicated or crazy or with too many oils and run it through one of the lye calculators.
