Can charcoal pull lye from soap? The last time I used charcoal I found a drop of liquid on top of my loaf of soap. Like an idiot, I touched my finger to it and to my tongue tip. Burned the crap out of myself! The jury is still out on that soap. It’s curing and I’m curious to see what happens with it. This is the second time I’ve used activated charcoal in an otherwise trusted batter. Now I have liquid on top again. I’m NOT touching it! Any idea what’s happening?

are you up for sharing your recipe?

i have made charcoal soaps that ash and some that dont

a vague observation is that the recipes that saponify quicker ash quicker and the really slow ones sometimes dont ash at all

Your recipe along with how much FO you used would be helpful. I don't think FO would burn but it could feel that way.
