So a couple days ago I made a molasses version of OMH since I didn’t have any honey. I followed Irish Lass’s instructions for using honey and everything was going merrily along. No scorching or volcanoing with the molasses or milk. I SB’d the oatmeal and hand-stirred the hitherto well-behaved FO knowing that things would proceed apace and was able to pour the smooth batter easily into the mold. I was feeling pretty proud of myself (which of course always goes before a fall) and kept a close eye on the soap. I could see it gelling before my eyes and it was already very firm to touch. Fearing a volcano or cracks at the very least, I put the soap in the fridge for 45 minutes then, since it looked like I’d stopped the processat a partial gel, I put it on a heating pad for 2 hours to try to even out the gel. The next day. it looked like it had gotten stuck at partial gel. I did a rescue CPOP and the area surrounding the pale center darkened, but the oval remains unchanged. It’s not very pretty so it will be a husband soap.

I HATE when that happens. I get it with my OMH soap as well, especially when I use my wooden molds.

I think it looks good! Who says you didn't work for the neat oval?!
