Lip Balms are great stocking stuffers and a nice little gift for friends and family. No time for testing and developing a recipe? I make my own lippies from scratch, but when I'm in a pinch, I luv these! I can recommend them without reservation. Plus, you don't have to buy all the ingredients to make lippies from scratch and have a bunch of leftovers gathering dust on the soaping shelf that you may or may not have use for.
It's a good thing!;)

ETA: When I was searching for lip balm tubes a month or so ago, they were in short supply. If you're counting on using tubes, I'd advise you to make sure the tubes are available first, before buying the ingredients. :videovisit:

I have also just started realizing that ppl dont like tins like they used to.

The nurses at work will happily pass around a container of body butter, but turn their noses up at lip balm tins that they have to put their fingers in. I guess its the perception of having to put their fingers back in it… but they do it for butters so 🤷‍♀️. They dont share lip balms lol. Its their own fingers in their own container.

Lips (and mouths) are notoriously bacteria laden and the number of people who get 'cold sores' aka herpes simplex on their lips is really quite high, so I fully understand and whole-heartedly condone not sharing lip products (lipstick, balm, whatever.) I think it's really less about putting their fingers back inside the balm container as it is transferring whatever touched the lips to the medium (what is in the container.) Even if it is their own fingers in a container not shared with anyone else, unless they NEVER run their tongue across their lips, the transfer of microorganisms from the lips to the fingers to the container is inevitable. Any every nurse knows about fomites. Just take a look at this article.

As for cross contamination via body butters, well that is possible as well, so I would not share a body butter container with other people. But as long as it is only for my skin and I wash prior to using the product and have no broken skin, I feel confidant about putting my fingers in the container. But even when I have some sort of skin condition on one part of my body, I certainly don't want to spread it to another, let alone from one person to another.

My guess is they (the nurses you are working with) are only applying the body butter to their hands and forearms while at work anyway, more as a hand lotion type of usage and that they wash their hands about as compulsively as most nurses do, their is not a lot of need to worry about cross contamination as if they were sharing the container with any Joe-Blow off the street.
