Hey y’all! Finished with lurk mode and ready to be a part of all the fun!

I wanted to share with you and a wonderful accident that occurred this morning.

I’m making Castile soap and all is going swimmingly

it’s a dark brownish green which is fabulous country rustic the no decide to add lemon

itbis now the most glorious shade of a mixed marinara sweet potato and pumpkin🧐 Ireally like it- I ran and grabbed a handful of fresh rosemary , minced it and tossed it in- it’s so lovely!
So that’s it!
Lemon turns Castile orange!

Just curious, how would fresh anything hold up in a soap that has such a long cure time?
You are correct that it is best to use dried herbs in soap, not fresh, as fresh organic matter can go moldy in the soap. Also, the acid in the lemon will neutralize some of the lye, making for a higher superfat in the soap.

Congratulations! Did you account for the lemon by adjusting the lye required? It will cause you to have a higher superfat. Adding fresh organic matter can cause issues such as mold. Plus it'll just turn brown because of the lye. Share your pictures when done! We love pictures.
