Can a 50/50 sodium hydroxide/water solution that has been master batched be kept indefinitely if stored appropriately? Do you have to use it up within a certain time frame?

Irishlass has stated that her masterbatched lye can last a very long time. I believe she said over a year. I use mine pretty quickly so can't say.

If you keep it tightly sealed it should keep for years, at least I would think so. I make up 2-3 gallons at a time, but use them up rather quickly, but I have seen it mentioned that some people have kept it several years or found one they had mixed and forgotten about.

The good thing is that you generally won't be opening the bottle too often - because you need double the lye amount of the solution, a bottle that is good to handle can't last forever if you soap regularly, but the extra bottles made up aren't being opened until about is finished, if that makes sense?
