I am making soap using plain, unsweetened yogurt and aloe juice. I mixed the yogurt and aloe until there were no lumps and then froze. When I added the lye to the frozen mixture, it melted, but left little lumps throughout the resulting mixture that I couldn't get rid of. What might have caused this? Or, is this normal?

You made soap. Mixing the lye with the yogurt saponified some of the fats in the yogurt and you had little blobs of soap. It happens when using milks, too. Any liquid that contains fats + lye = soap. Coconut milk will essentially give you soap on a stick.

Makes sense. So, can I still use this mixture to add to my base oils to make my soap? Or will there be little lumps in my loaf?

"...will there be little lumps in my loaf? ..."

Not necessarily. The soap curds are probably fairly soft. If you're using a stick blender to mix your soap batter, the SB should break up the lumps. Just try it and see.....
