Hi there! I've been on a kick lately of making some original soap recipes and soaps that different areas are known for. One that I simply cannot find and am so curious about is a portuguese soap called azul e branco, blue and white soap. I see it online to order occasionally, but can't track down the recipe.

Would anyone know anything about this?

It seems like there is no settled recipe for Sabão Azul e Branco. Many different manufacturers (Offenbach, Clarim, countless DIY soapers), there are even liquid variants of it that obviously have a different recipe than bar soaps. Without knowing anything about the backgrounds and legal situation, it seems up to the imagination of soapmakers which oils to include into it. With the long tradition of the soap in mind, I'd guess that animal fats and/or olive sound like probable choices.

Besides the trademark blue colouration, as a recurring (but otherwise unusual) ingredient appears sodium silicate.
