Anyone had much luck making hard CP soap with KoH (potassium hydroxide)? And/or does anyone have a list of fats that work well with KoH?

I know a lot of people say you'll only get a soft soap, but I also know people made good hard soap with it for a few hundred years.

Hi -

I've no experience with nor have I read about anyone attempting to make hard bars with KOH. Not sure why you just wouldn't use NaOH?

If you're set on it - try all the hard oils with the KOH and see what happens.
Palm, Coconut, Palm Kernal, Cocoa Butter etc.

Maybe someone with KOH and bar soap will chime in.

I think, not sure, but heard you need to use 1.4 times the amount of sodium hydroxide needed. I just read that somewhere last week....
