I bought this great little boxed mould. Do I need to towel wrap it as well or will it be sufficient in itself?

I use something similar. I always put a bath towel over it too to ensure gel phase. I do use a lye discount so it takes a bit more to get it going.

I just got one too. I've made two 'loaves' in it so far and both times I have wrapped them in a towel and they have fully gelled.
I usually make individual bars in silicone moulds which don't tend to gel.
