Well folks, I had a problem soap the other week and a few folk came to the rescue with advice. Zapp was mentioned and I said I didn't know what it was like/didn't know if I was getting it or not.

Well, after testing my salt bar after cutting (for experimental zap purposes) I most definately got an INSTANT ZAP:shock:.

That's another bit of the learning curved covered:razz:

I find that rinsing one's mouth instantly does help (I've actually slightly burned my tongue with lye). Something acidic to drink nearby is also a good idea.

I'm scared to death of getting zapped. to my hubby for being my zap tester.

First (few) times I got zapped from testing HP early I actually burned my tongue. But that was because I didn't rinse out my mouth fast enough. I do it over the sink now with running water, so that I have access if I do get zapped and I swish the water in my mouth. However, I'm much more aware of when my HP is done and I haven't been zapped in a long while (except that time recently that I wanted to make sure there was a lye excess for my cooking oil experiment).

Welcome to the ABZ club! {already been zapped}

@ Balloons, You need to be zapped at least once so you know what its like hahaha..dont be skeered :-D

I had my first zap this morning! I had a problem batch which separated on me when I added the fragrance oil, so I blended blended blended and got it pretty much back together and in the mould. On unmoulding it looked very lumpy so I was expecting it not to have saponified properly, and on testing...I was right. How unpleasant!
