How Does Gelling your soap affect scent?

I just started putting cream in my soaps, so I am not gelling them. Does not gelling a soap affect scent?

No gelling may help retain the fragrance a bit more. I think gelling and the heat it produces may burn off the scent a bit. I gel all my soaps so I could be wrong but to me it would make sense.
