Horse Soap

Im looking to make a soap to use on my horse. Looking for any tips or recipes that you might have concerning horse soap. So far my research has some conflicting info on EO, all have said Cedarwood, Lavendar, and Geranium is ok and good for bugs, not sure which I’ll use yet, just those seem to be ok to use. Im thinking adding some tea tree oil also. I appreciate any thoughts or info on this. Thanks in advance.

Neem oil should be a good insect repellent: Field studies on the mosquito repellent action of neem oil - PubMed

But maybe check with your horses if they tolerate the smell; I didn’t care for it.

But maybe better as a leave-on product. Is that a thing for horses?

Yes, leave-on products are a thing for horses. We spray them heavily with insect repellent all summer long. I prefer Eco-vet insect spray. There are all kinds of leave-on products, though. Conditioner is probably the #1. I love the idea of making a nice, healthy soap for my horse! Thank you for the idea!
