What are the problems with high SF soaps? Is it just more potential for DOS? Or is there something else?

So... a while ago I was experimenting with 100% avocado oil soap. I made a small batch with a 5%sf and one with a 15%sf.

They were both odd slimy soaps, but I liked the 15% way better.

So now I'm trying to figure out pros and cons for using higher superfats than what I have seen

I make a 100% coconut with a 20%sf, but I know coconut oil is a bit different.

Higher superfat reduces lather because the soap has to emulsify the extra fat rather than form bubbles. It may increase the chance of rancidity although that depends on the types of fatty acids in the soap and your choice of other ingredient. It may cause plumbing problems if you have older plumbing and/or have hard water.

If you like a higher superfat soap, by all means continue on. It's very much a personal preference thing.
