Hi, my name is Annmarie and I live in Southern Ca. My son has Autsim(2 yrs old) and can not have any chemicals or anything synthetic on his body. So, I deceided to make my own soap. Well, it has now turned into an obsession . I even started my own herb garden(which I will be using in my soaps). I now decided that I want to ofer this soap to the other familes out there who have kids on the Autsim spectrum and only want them to have all natural, organic soap.

I ahve been buying my supplies just from the local Mothers market, but its getting expensive. Since I want to statr making big batches, where can I go for my oils(essential & coconut)?

Hi Annmarie and welcome to SMF!

I've just placed two orders today for mostly FOs but a few EOs. WSP is a pretty popular site for ordering all manner of soaping supplies, with fast turn-around of orders and good customer service. I just placed my second order with them this morning. I hear from others that Soap Supplies is also a good supplier. I just placed an order with Soap Supplies, for some FO mixes that WSP didn't have, and ordered oxide colorants too.

For base oils WSP might be good for you. Depending where you are in SoCal if you're near Simi you can buy base oils and pick up in person at Natural Oils Inc. I visit Simi on occasion and get my oils then to save on gasoline.

I hope to see you in the Soap section of SMF, and please post some pics of your soap bars when you feel ready. I'd post some of my own today if I ever quit typing and shoot them.

Thank you again. Greg, thank you for the great info. I am going to price out some things tomorrow. Know anything about natural pigments for my soaps. I really dop not want to use anything synthetic?

I've been trying to concern myself about being health conscious with the scents and pigments that I use in my soaps. Please join our discussion "choosing colorants" in the Soap forum. You can read up and synchronize with the discussion where we have been discussing colorant sources, although it appears we have all been assuming they are safe. In most cases they are, but you can bring up this important concern and I hope we can address it within your satisfaction.

Hi and Welcome. I only use natural colorants in my soaps. A good place to look is Emporium Naturals

They have herbs as well as natural colorant sets. If you are interested in how some of them look in soap and I will send you some pics.
