I'm very new to soapmaking, having made a single batch of liquid soap which left much to be desired! I found this forum while trying to figure out what the hell was wrong, and I very much wish I'd come here first! I've learned quite a bit already and I've a ton of questions so hopefully will learn more from the answers.
My interest is purely personal - I'm into traditional crafting of all kinds, and making soap is another skill I'd like to have under my belt. I took chemistry at school (a long time ago!) and I'm also a reasonably competent cook, home brewer, and occasional molecular gastronomist, so hopefully the learning curve won't be too steep.
