Hello from California

Hi All,

I have been a lurker on here for some time, and have marveled at all your creativity and knowledge. Thank you all for so generously sharing.

I have dabbled in soap making for several years, but would like to get more serious into it. I do not have the space for cold process soap, so I mainly use the CPOP method. A couple years ago for a family reunion, I made several types of soaps representing various areas of the state. I used fragrance oils and they turned out nicely. I have since found out that many synthetic fragrance oils make me sick, so I am trying to come up with blends of essentials oils to put in. It is a fun process and fascinating to think that from such humble ingredients as fat comes something so wonderful. I am hooked!

I am heading to CA tomorrow for a week, not for fun, though (a family funeral). But I will get to see some family and I have to admit I've been rather lonely for my family lately. I need to go start packing now. Traveling light because I don't want to pay $70 round-trip for a checked suitcase.

We are about 60 miles away from the nearest one, but it is truly horrifying for all involved.

So sorry you have to travel for such a sad occasion. Sometimes it seems that we only get together for occasions such as this. I totally understand the packing light. Don't know where you're going, but here in Southern Cal we are averaging about 75 degrees and 49-55 at night. Safe Journey
