So I bought Makesy orange colorant for melts and candles from Hobby Lobby. Big mistake. It was orange in the pot but not anywhere else. So I added a peach colorant I had. It had the effect of the attached picture. The scent is Pumpkin Pecan Waffles. So this didn't turn out as planned lol.

Now I'm trying to figure out a way to decorate it. It doesn't have a smooth top so I was going to melt the top tomorrow to smooth it over a bit, which means I can decorate it easily still.

I had a thought of calling it "I Believe It's Magic" like the song form Ghostbusters. But I have no idea how to decorate it to fit the theme now that it's a weird kind of pink/purple. Any ideas?

People only want wax in their wax melts, nothing else. I looks like you might have over filled the mould, remelt if you have to, but you have to be able to break each rectangle apart to put in the wax melter. I use to sell these and once the lid is closed and labeled on the outside you don't see any decoration.
Make them with a little less wax, no decoration and see how that works for you, don't over think it.

I put some rose petals in my rose bouquet scented ones and people remarked how pretty they are.

But did they buy them ? Personally I wouldn't like botanicals floating around in the melting wax. Mine were always plain, just my 2 cents worth.:)

It looks to me that unfortunately for the color, that's not what's actually happening. It looks like it might have been poured a little too hot and because of that is starting to shrink in the cavities.
Try a concentrated liquid colorant, and pour a little cooler and I'll bet you will have significantly better results.

FWIW - I couldn't sell a plain white wax melt to save my life, they had to have color or they just sat there until I melted them myself. I never put botanicals into mine though, so that I wouldn't know about, but if you are having good luck with that, don't change it. :)

I've seen wax melts with some glitter placed into the clamshell. I think those ones look quite nice.

Mine had colour, not white, just plain without added extras. I found a mould and made single ones, different scents and colours to match and let the person pick their own, I think I had about 15 altogether. They liked those better and I was able to use up small amounts of FO's.

What a fantastic idea! I'm just looking into wax melts for some Christmas gifts. Because, you know, I need another hobby and to cram more stuff into my craft room. :nodding:

I don't sell them just white. It just doesn't sell.

I decided to just go with the color. I've attached the label so you can see. A bit of black, purple, blue, and an orange. So it hits the Halloween theme.

I had to cancel market this weekend because I sold out of so much last weekend and I've run out of supplies to make them (they're supposed to get here tomorrow and Saturday). This time of year last year, I was lucky to be making $100 a day. Now I've done $300 this past weekend, and $250 the weekend before so I wasn't prepared.

That's awesome. Not that you had to cancel, but that your markets are doing so well.
Ours here (or at least the few I've been selling at this season) are just the opposite. Saturday's market for me, I made $50 above my booth fee. It was very disappointing. I usually am scrambling to remake so much stuff after this market for my November shows because I typically almost sell out. Not the case this year. It's been that way for all 3 I've been too. :(

Weird that its completely the opposite.

Probably hasn't helped that these are the fall festival and "holiday" shows, and it's still in the low-mid 90's here. People just aren't thinking "Christmas" when they are sweating and have the AC on blast. LOL
Ewww.... we have snow in the forecast for next week... yay us! Candles are flying off the shelves already
