What is a guest bar and how does it differ from a regular bar?

Far as I can see, a guest bar is just smaller than a 'regular' bar of soap. I keep smaller bars by the bathroom sink for people to use.

Ok. So basically a smaller bar for the guests to use?

It's just a smaller bar. I make guest soaps that are about half the size of my full bars and about half the thickness. I also do wedding favors that are just half a bar.

I always think 'hotel soap' when I think of the size for a guest bar. Now I think of them more as 'travel soaps' because I travel so much and prefer smaller sizes to make packing easier.

Guest size soaps are easy to make from your regular bars, by just cutting them in half or thirds, etc. depending on your usual size of your personal bath bars. I have bought 'guest bar' molds, but realized that's just more clutter, when all I have to do is change how I cut my blocks of soap to create smaller bars.

What the others are saying. Sometimes people make guest soaps in cute molds that only hold an ounce or two of soap or do something along that line to dress up the soap "for pretty".
