Does anyone make body scrubs with glycerin instead of or in addition to oil? What are the benefits or the non-benefits?
Just curious, I've seen some recipes using glycerin, just don't know what the plus side is.
Thanks

If you use glycerin then you can't really use salt or sugar as your exfoliant as the glycerin will melt it (http://swiftcraftymonkey.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/quick-note-on-using-water-in-sugar-and.html) so you could try something like jojoba beads or ground rice instead.

Most people find glycerin used at more than 3% too sticky.

If you use oils/butters in addition to glycerin then you will need an emulsifier so that they mix.

To give you more exfoliant options and not have to use an emulsifier, I would advise to leave out the glycerin - recipe here if you want to try without - http://makingskincare.com/how-to-make-a-scrub/
