My mom gave me some hand-made bar soaps last year but I haven't used any of them yet because she said they melt at room temperature so the three bars have been sitting in my fridge, untouched (she told me to keep them in the freezer though and that sounded wrong to me even though I have no experience working with soap making). I don't know if it could be an imbalance of lye causing the melting and since I know too much lye can be harmful, I don't know if they're safe to use. Should I just play it safe and toss it?

The green and brown ones feel slimy but the purple swirly one feels like a normal bar of soap that's come out of the box.

Those are melt and pour. They shouldn't melt unless its really, really hot in you house.
They are safe to use. The one probably feels slimy from the condensation, it should go away once the soap is warmed up and the surface has dried.
