Hello! I searched and didn't find an adequate answer. When using a liquid such as beer or milk that is frozen prior to adding the lye, do you measure the liquid first or measure the cubes after the liquid is frozen?

TIA!!
Trish

You can do it either way. I don't freeze mine any longer but I usually measured it first then froze it. As long as you are doing weight it won't much make a difference.

I weigh the frozen liquid as it is easier to deal with.

But it really does not make a difference. There is a slight density difference - but not enough to worry about at the amounts we use.
