Fragrancing Gel Candles

How can I test if my fragrance is safe for gel candles? Some vendors will say "candle safe" but they don't specify if that means wax and gel candles or just wax candles. And why would a fragrance be fine for wax candles but not gel candles?

Gel "wax" isn't like regular candle wax. Certain fragrance components just aren't compatible. It has to do with polarity. Here's the product info page for gel wax at Nature's Garden, it is very detailed and includes instructions for a compatibility test:

If you get your fragrances from Nature's Garden, they list gel wax compatibility in each fragrance listing.
