Hello everyone, I’ve been making soap for a while now, 10lbs or so. I have an issue/problem. A while back I decided to infuse some of my oil with some hibiscus and some other flower (the type escapes me at the moment) however I forgot to label what kind of oil I put in there and well you know where I’m going with this. This is a first for me. So my question is, do I count it as a loss or take a chance????

If you can't name the oil, how do you know if someone is allergic or not. What are you going to put into the calculator if you can't name the oil ? Also hibiscus doesn't have any perfume - how do I know - I have them growing in the garden. They might change the colour of the oil depending on the colour of the hibiscus, but won't impart any scent. I just enjoy them on the bush.

I wasn’t planning on selling the soap. I’d never done any infusions before and mainly did it for the color change. Yes that was where I was going with my question, “What are you going to put into the calculator?” So my main reason for posting this was to see if anyone else had ever done this before and if so what did they do.

What oils do you normally keep around that you would have used for this infusion? If you can come up with that list, pick the one that has the highest SAP value, and put that into the calculator. That way, if you are not correct, the worst outcome is a little bit higher super fat than what you planned.
