So I can’t seem to pour FOs or EOs without making a mess and wasting a bunch! Im trying to use the skewer-against-the-bottleneck trick but I must be doing something wrong. Any tips?
I can't use the skewer method, I make a mess. I hold the measuring cup up to the FO bottle neck, making sure they touch. Pour slowly, any FO that runs down the bottle neck, hits the measuring cup and runs inside.
It took some practice when I first learned about holding a stir-stick/skewer/toothpick/chopstick/skinny-straw (etc) method.
There is a learning curve to co-ordinate hand & finger dexterity. When my hand is at its functional best and the bottle from which I am pouring is small, I can do this using one hand. When the bottle is larger or heavier, I use a two-handed method. Perhaps practicing pouring inexpensive liquids a few times would help perfect this skill.
Here are a couple of videos showing ways to use this method:
And a bonus - how to pour paint from a can and not make a mess (just in case you ever find a need for this tip.):
