I wonder if she gives out the pattern for these ? I too wanted to knit these, but like her didn't like the idea of having to purchase the wool and pattern from the other organization.

I do not know who charges for the pattern but here is a link. I make these for the Kaiser Hospital I have a market in. Please use their recommendations for yarn. I make the crochet version and really do not know how the knitted version is in comparison and only make them with Patton's Grace cotton. The shop tells me they go out as fast as I can get them to them.

I see they do sell kits, but the patterns are also available on the site for free.

These are the kits, you pay for the postage on every kit, and when you send them back they are checked for quality control and if all is OK, then they will send you out more.
I can't afford to pay out $10 on every kit, I can buy cotton and knit some, pay for postage to return them, but looks like they don't do it that way.
To me that defeats the purpose of volunteering my efforts.

My friend and I recently knitted premmie hats for babies in hospital, the patterns we used were from an organization. After we knitted them, we then found out they didn't want anymore ( more wasted time). So another lady I knew took them to the local hospital and they were happy to have them and want more. I can't knit 4 ply wool anymore as I get RSI from the thin wool.
