Hi everyone, happy soaping! I am moonbeam soaps.
I am in a fix and would like help, I have Anise EO with me and I am reading amazing things about Fennel EO on different soapmaking websites. My fear is that Anise and fennel will be too similar in scents. So my question is, is it worth buying fennel EO or not? if no, can I substitute it with Anise EO ? Anyone who knows about this please do help me.
thank you

Correct. When used for fragrance in soap (and as a spice in cooking), Fennel is a good sub for Star Anise and vice versa, but Anise is preferred as it is more readily available and less expensive.

Fennel is well known for it's therapeutic benefits in leave-on products; Anise also has therapeutic benefits but there are safety precautions.
