Hi, I have recently started making soap and made a recipe for a dog shampoo. When it is slightly more cured, I am going to test the pH to make sure it is right for dogs but until then, I was wondering about the dosage of essential oils.

I've made a lavender scented loaf, where I steeped dried lavender buds overnight and used the water. I also added 10 ml of lavender essential oil, which came to about 8 g (with 500 g oils so 1.6%). Does this seem ok and safe for dogs? The lavender water would also contain some essential oils as the buds obviously give off the same properties.

I will be making a non-scented loaf too, but want to know whether to use the lavender one on my/other people's dogs or whether to use it as human soap :) Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't use any EO on dogs or cats, there are just too many that are unsafe.
Fragrance oils are safer or just go with unscented since the scent won't stick to the fur anyways.
