Hello,

I'd like to try making a batch of soap with an embossed silicone mat in a slab mold. I'm looking for something similar to what Anne Marie uses in this video

I've been all over the interwebs and cannot find anything that has a recessed pattern like this so that the beautiful contrasting pattern "pops out"

The only ones I have seen are relatively tiny and wouldn't fit a slab mold. Id prefer not to have to Frankenstein them together because I'm sure that will all end in tears.

Can anyone offer a suggestion? Any help or leads would be appreciated.

I use the 'Graceful Vines' silicone fondant mat made by Wilton to line my slab mold. Parts of it are recessed and parts of it are convex. This is what it ends up looking like on the bottom of my soap:

Those soaps are so beautiful!

Here is one that is recessed. What you want to look for are embossing mats

Thank you so much. I really like the second one, but think it might be a bit small for a slab mold. Maybe I can Frankenstein them together. The first one is nice too so maybe I'll just buy that. Thank you so much for the links!

Thank you everyone for your input. It gave me some ideas on how and where to research and for the sake of posterity I'm going to post some links to products I've found that I think fit the bill in case someone runs into this in the future

PS - if you guys look at these and think they won't work let me know. I'm trying to conceptualize what I want the soap to look like and I think these work.

Thanks again!

You are right, I didn’t look carefully enough. The mat I linked to would create a soap with the background being a different color and the design would be the color of the soap. Which would still be nice, just not what you are after. Looks like you have found some nice choices. @KiwiMoose has an impression mat similar to the one in your original post. Maybe she can let you know where she got hers.

I’ve also been looking at the impression mats and stamps made for clay work. There are some nice mats, but be sure to check the size. Some that I like are not long enough to cover the bottom of my mold.

ETA: saw a soap made with this design on IG today and found it on Aliexpress. Does anyone shop at Aliexpress?

Yes I do all the time.
Just make a wish list and then go back and check the prices. Exactly the same mat will be selling for $18 from one person and $4 from another. Check the sizes and material and postage costs. Also check the reviews. I only buy from sellers with 97% or better positive feedback.
