Disposing of lye water?

Due to a measuring mishap from my very first attempt at soapmaking, I now have a big bowl of lye water, the proportions of which are totally unknown. I need to get rid of it. Can I just pour it down the sink? (It is drain cleaner, so to speak.) Or do I need to let it sit around and mellow out? At least I'm not wasting something super expensive!

It won't "mellow" out. I would just pour it down the sink, followed with plenty of running water.

Yea, it's like Liquid Plumber, just pour in the kitchen sink or toilet, then flush...clean pipes and fresh soap, what could be better!

Don't do this if you are on a septic tank though.
