So.... I'm in the middle of attempting to design a soap for a wedding.
My brother is getting married in December and I've been asked to make soap that will be given as a gift for the guest.
I really want to share it with you, I can't share it with friends because it needs to stay a secret for the guest.

So my brothers fiance picked a couple of colours and based on those colours I've made a couple of possible designs.
The first picture is the one she choice. (Just a guide picture it will be a bit different)

Based on this I made a small version

Just to see if it would be anywhere close they would like without wasting to much of my supplies.
So it was time for the real deal!

I've never been so stocked about cutting a soap!

After that I wanted to make some modifications and also test my red en black colours!
So I've tried to make the squares smaller and add more white.
It did not exactly went to plan because it was very warm and soap reacted a little different that I expected.
It got thick quite fast but also din't really seem to to harden.
So I just tied to finish the soap without messing up to much.

After the most difficult cut:

The soap ended up to high so that Is something I need to change.
I still think the squares where a bit to big and I might up using a little less of them so there will be more white.
When I make a new version I will probably share it in this thread.

Together:

If anyone takes the time to read all of this, thanks!
Feel free to give me advice.

I think you're on the right track. You've done well.

HAPPY SOAPING!

Thank you!

Very nice! I like the larger chunks better I think. And the colors.
Thanks!
The colors are going to be (I think) to the blue full size version.
The bigger chunks are nice as well you are absolutely right.
I'll will probably make a last fall size test with smaller, it might be better for the wedding theme.

In the end my brother and my (to be) sister in law will decide.

I really like the blue one and agree smaller and less chunks may look even better.
Thank you!
Red is my favorite color (I'm known for mu love for red and black checkered/tartan)
But for this design it looks a lot better in blue!

Love both soaps! I agree that the bigger chunks and the smaller top looks better.

The blue one looks more like a wedding soap to me. Maybe because it has more gold in it?

What if you used gold or silver instead of the orange in the red bar? To me, that would create more of a wedding type of look to it.

Either way, you've made beautiful soaps. I'm sure the couple will be delighted. :)

Thank you! The soap is going to be blue/greenish I only made the red version because the second test was meant to test the white to color ratio.

In preparation I've bought a few soap loaf molds from the internet, in total 2 molds from 2 different web shops (4 in total!)
They should arrive any moment. I will be making 90 bars of soap. I wouldn't mind having a mold or two to spare.

Also my partners dad is helping me making a loaf soap cutter with multi bar wires!

Time for a update!

I've made my last test batch before making the real deal!
Also I've ordered a big chunk of the supplies.
If there is anyone who want to know about how I plan to attempt to make 90 bars of soap please let me know.

But here is the result, I did made a little mistake and forgot to use some of the soap of the base for two little bars.
So I've added the picture with the newest results and what I want it to look like.
I'm working on a step by step plan so that I won't forget when I make the real deal.

The next picture you can see how I want it to look like.

Very nice. I’ve do e quite a few weddings and baby showers. I’ve done as many as 250 for one event and as few as 50. It’s a lot of work. I’ve done both half and full bars.

Great design!

Thank you! I'm still very new to soap design so I'm happy I can use it for such an special event!

That is pretty cool! Do you have any tips for me?
The biggest batch I've made so far was only one loaf of 1500 gram of oils.
Now I'll be making 3 loafs at the same time, it will be a little different.
So far I've found a decent mixing bowl (6L) and got a few extra soap loaf molds.

I made them 3 at at time. I get 16 bars out of a loaf. I own 9 molds. So it was relatively easy to get them done in 1-2 days. I have a large stainless pot.

A little update:

I am going to post the pictures here because most of the work put in is for the wedding soap "project".
All the ingredients have been ordered as soon as I have them I can start!
There is a change I will have a job in September so I'll try and finish the soap before the end of August.
But it shouldn't be to difficult.

Today I finished the most work on the spare bedroom.
I cleared out as much stuff as I could, to have as much space as possible.

I am so happy I don't need to need to make the 90 bars of soap in the kitchen!
Also because all of my inventory already was saved in the spare bedroom it saves me a lot of walking.

Also: my (future to be)father in law was so nice to make a multi-bar soap cutter for me!
I will make a soap very soon to try it out.
I'm not sure if I need to do something to the wood like a clear coat of something to make sure the soap stays clean.

I feel beyond happy!
