Cornmeal soap

Hello everyone!

Recently my Mother asked me to make a soap that my grandmother made with "cornmeal in it that smelled like lemons". From my research I think this was gardeners hand soap. Has anyone used cornmeal as an exfoliant before? Is there anything in particular I need to be aware of? I'm assuming it's just like any other exfoliant but wanted to check first. Thank you!

I have used corn meal before, but deliberately chose the finest corn flour I could find, to avoid exfoliating properties. It should be easy to use coarser polenta-style corn meal.

Me too! I forgot about that one. I'll have to try it again. I scented with lemon 5 fold, Lemongrass, litsea, rosemary and mint.
