Hi all,

So I tried making liquid soap using extra virgin olive oil by BORGES, this is my first time using this and I expected brown-amber coloured paste. Instead I got green paste like the picture. Does extra virgin olive oil always give this result? The videos of castile soap online always show amber colour.

My recipe is 70% olive and 30% coconut, lye concentration 40%, superfat 1%.

EVOO tends to be green tinted so it stands to reason your soap batter would also have a green tinge. Try plain OO next time.

Its a really pretty green but yeah, use plain OO and you'll get the amber paste you want.

I bet that will look really nice once its diluted.
