Hello, anyone here use essential oils for health? I am new to aromatherapy, and I would like to try topical applications.

Do EO carrier oils need to be of a certain purity (i.e. are carrier oils graded "therapeutic grade" like essential oils)? I have some camellia oil from a hardware store that I was thinking about using.

"Therapeutic grade" is nothing but marketing. As long as your EOs are from a reputable seller and not diluted, they'll do the same thing for a looooottt less.

Same goes for your carrier oils. Check the ingredients and if it's the only thing listed, go for it!
What is camellia oil used for that would get it sold in a hardware store?

Thanks for the advice! Camellia oil is used to protect tools from rust. In Japan it's also used in skin and hair conditioners, such as Shiseido Tsubaki shampoo (which is like Pantene on steroids ).
