OK, I'm about convinced. It's the weather!!

Yesterday was a bit less humid and cooler. Exact same batch. Exact same procedures. Same mold. Same containers of oil. Same everything!

1 month ago I had a cracking nightmare!

Two days ago perfection!!!

Nothing else changed!

I am so happy for you that you have found the problem!

I have found that when soap heats up really fast and starts to crack on top, simply lifting it up off the counter and provided added air-flow space below the bottom of the mold, slows down the over-heating and can stop the cracking in its tracks. So if your recipe tends heats up quickly (even if only in hot weather or when your house is extra warm), put a cooling rack on the counter and set the filled soap mold on the cooling rack.
