Has anyone ever done an oil infusion with California Bay (Umbellularia californica) to make CP soap or anything else?

When I was starting out with soaps, and pretty naive, I distilled California bay to get the essential oil to put into a "Bay rum" type soap. But although it was nice in the soap, distilling it was a huge headache. Like LITERALLY. You don't really want to breathe in too much of that stuff, even just from the leaf on the tree. It sears the sinuses.

But I'm wondering if an infusion would bring anything lasting into the soap, color- and scent-wise.
