Canada announced today that it is considering adding Bisphenol A to it's list of toxic chemicals (there is a 60 day evaluation period where the 'other side' can try to convince the gov't that putting poison in our products isn't acutally all that dangerous!).

I was very very upset to find out that my kids sippy cups and bottles are all made with plastics containing BPA. I knew that the Nalgene bottles were made with it, but I just figured that the companies making BABY PRODUCTS would choose NOT to use this toxic chemical!! :x :x

Here are a couple of very interesting links (and I love that they are Canadian! you don't find that very often!) that I think everyone should check out if you're concerned about this...

here is one on homemade cleaners...some of the ideas are no brainers, but there are a few interesting tidbits in there...

Here's one on soothers and teethers...freaky! The soothers my kids use AREN'T listed!

Anyway, just thought I'd rant a bit and see what others are thinking on this issue....

some freaky stuff!! Glad you posted that (though I dont have kids) I think its a big deal to be conscious of what goes into each and every product we use...because lets face it, big business chooses the CHEAPEST option...not the SAFEST!!

its all about instant gratification, instead of long term effect!

Ive actually done the air freshener they reccommend on that second site with cinnamon and cloves!...its makes the house smell wonderful and you can keep adding water when it boils down at least 3 or 4x's....mmm mmmmmm

Thanks for the heads up!!

Never did the baby bottle thing, but did use the sippy cups. It just upsets me so much what is "hidden" for profit. :( k

I find it outrageous that companies use toxic materials to make baby products. This makes me sick. Why are there no strict regulations?
