Hi all,

Can you use wax that has been extracted and filtered out of a Bee Hive in body butter or do you have to buy the one from soap making suppliers?

Thanks

Hey... I just found one on the internet.

I've never made body butter before. I'd be interested to see your recipe if you don't mind sharing and some instructions.

I suppose the wax is just to make it more solid at room temperature but don't quote me on that.

Yes, the wax is for firmness. I don't use wax in mine eiether. Just 75% shea & 25% oils. If you used a whole bunch of oil & just a little butter you would need wax to firm it up.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I need to do a bit of homework on some recipes !

Cheers

Hi all, Just made my first butter today and well it turned out a bit oily.

My own recipe

Batch size = 250gram

shea butter - 150gm
olive oil = 80gm
Sweet Almond = 10gm
Virgin Avocado = 10gm
Strawberry F/O = 2ml

Do you think I used too much oils? I based it on the 60/40 rule

Can I reclaim it to get rid of the oil?

I added about 1/2 tsp of cornflour to try and takeaway the oilyness but that didn't help much.

EDIT: Also, I just went and rubbed some shea butter into my hands and it was oily. Is this normal? The Shea Butter I have is pure white and doesn't have any smell would this mean its Ultra refined?

Thanks

Kristian
