I got my hands on a pound of free range bison tallow and plan to use it in shaving soap.

From past threads it looks like SAP value is very close to beef tallow. However appearance is more yellow vs. ivory. Soapcalc doesn't have values for different fatty acid properties. Has anyone else used it and can speak to any differences in the final soap?

Cool! I've never had the chance to use bison, so can't offer any experience with it.

I can say, however, that bison and domestic cattle are fairly closely related (they're in the same subfamily, Bovinae), so using beef tallow in SoapCalc seems the most reasonable selection to me.

Have fun, and let us know how it turns out.
