Everything was progressing normally until I poured in my essential oils which were a blend of lemongrass and thyme. I have used lemongrass before so do you think it was the thyme? I glopped it all in the mould anyway, in the hope that the 'ricey' bits smooth out when it gels! Maybe I can pass this of to my family as rustic soap:rolleyes:
Are there other essential oils that have a reputation for causing this?

I’ve never had ricing from lemongrass or thyme. I don’t use a lot of EO but those I’ve used haven’t given me any issues. Peppermint, rosemary, thyme, eucalyptus, tea tree, orange, grapefruit and patchouli. So, no answer to why it may have happened to you.

Oh that's interesting, thank you...gives me the courage to try it again sometime:)

I have never used thyme EO, but lemongrass has not caused any ricing for me. I adore lemongrass. Since Shari has had no problems with thyme EO, I wonder if perhaps there is a supplier issue?

Here is a good article on choosing Essential Oils for soap making and where to buy vs where to avoid buying;

Another good article on EO's: https://www.modernsoapmaking.com/using-essential-oils-in-soapmaking/

Thank You for the links Earlene, good reading! I love lemongrass too, it's my favourite! I will revisit Thyme EO when I am more confident;)
