Hi,

Does anyone remember who it was who had the animated smiley hug that looked like this:

I am trying to get the original gif link so I can post it places.

Bugger. How come it works here and not on stupid facebook? : (
I think I still need the full name of the gif so I can post it on facebook.

"...why do my smileys always have that box around them? ..."

I think the box is because you're attaching the image to your message. A solution might be to "embed" the image.

If the gif is hosted somewhere on the internet (in other words, the gif has a web address, aka URL), then embedding will work. If the gif is only stored on your personal computer, embedding won't work, because SMF has to be able to find the gif (or other image) somewhere out in internet-land.

Embedding -- See the button at the top of the editor that looks like a picture of yellow mountains? Click that button, paste the URL link of your animated gif in the box that appears, and click OK. Not sure this will work (I've never tried embedding an animated gif), but it's worth a try.

Edit -- okay here's a try --

DancingPeaks.gif

Yep, works. You will see the URL of the gif between two tags --
at the end. You can just type these tags rather than use the embed button.

I found the following information using a google image search of your emoji. That took me to the website: http://www.punjabigraphics.com/pg/hugs/page/5/

HTML Code:
<p><a href="http://www.punjabigraphics.com/"><img src="http://www.punjabigraphics.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/smiley-hug.gif" alt="Smiley Hug Animation"></a></p><a href="http://www.punjabigraphics.com/">PunjabiGraphics.com</a> | <a href="http://www.punjabigraphics.com/pg/hugs/" rel="category tag">Hugs</a> | <a href="http://www.punjabigraphics.com/smiley-hug-animation/" target="_blank">Forward this Picture</a>

Direct Link:

If you use the BB code for forums, it simply displays the emoticon:

Hey, I think that's me! What can I do to help? Exactly what is it that you need? And while we're at it, why do my smileys always have that box around them?

It is a beautiful smiley, thank you navigator.

Look at Makemineirish for an explanation. She has found the weblink and I think that will help me. I haven't two seconds today to do it but will try as soon as I can.

Thank you makemineirish!!
I spent hours looking on the internet to no avail!!

To find the internet location (URL) of an embedded picture (won't work for an attached picture), this method works well, at least for Firefox --

Right click on the image, choose View Image.
When the image appears in your browser window, the URL at the top of the browser screen is the location where the graphic is stored.

***

To search for an image like MMI did, try Google Image search --

Move your mouse to the image you want to search for.
Right click and choose "Save as" and save the image to your local computer.
In your internet browser, go here: https://images.google.com/imghp?hl=en
Click the "Camera" icon to the right of the search box.
Click "Upload an image" and browse to the saved image on your computer.
Click Open to start the search.
