Okay, I'm making my first batch and I made a PVC mold 3" x 18" long. I used the formula in the sticky about how to calculate the oil to fill a mold.

Volume of the Mold
3.14 * 1.5*1.5*18=127 cubic inches

Amount of Oil
127*.40 = 50 ounces of oil

I plugged that into Soapcalc and my recipe says:
50 ounces of tallow
19 ounces of water
7.059 ounces of lye

I'm making a straight tallow for my first batch.

Did I calculate correctly to fill the mold? Checked by water volume and the mold held a bit more than 2 quarts of water.

When I measure my oils and water I would be doing it by weight on the scale correct?

If you have followed the sticky then it should be correct. I use those equations for all of my molds with no problems. Yes you will defiantly want to measure your oils, water and lye with a scale to be as accurate as possible.
