I don't have an Aloe vera plant but many common houseleeks. Somewhere I read that its juice/gel has similar properties as Aloe vera, only to a lesser extent. So I thought I could use it for soap.
Any experience with it anybody? Your opinion will be appreciated.

I had to google what a houseleek is. We call them hen and chicks here in the US, I like your name better.
Seeing as the juice is drunk and used medicinally, it very well could be similar to aloe in soap. Its definitely worth trying.

I would try it. If someone, which my hubby suspiciously denies, had not cut away all my thick patch of hen and chicks several years ago I would have tried it. I would peel and filet it like aloe and not use the outside of the leaf. I know some mention grinding up the entire aloe leaf but I did that one time and found it made a very scratchy soap, so I only use the filet portion.
