I infused some alkanet root powder into olive oil. I used the crock pot method at a rate of about 2 cups oil - 2 T root powder (I can't find the paper I wrote it on unfortunately). I strained it through cheesecloth. I did a 32 oz oil weight soap today with 5.25 oz of the total oil being the infused oil. Most of what I've read says that this will come out either purple or gray. Well, here is what mine looks like after pouring it into the mold, I did NOT expect this army green! Of course I know that it can change to most likely gray by tomorrow, but wow, this was a surprise! I had visions of a lovely shade of purple as I mixed this soap.
